You can withdraw your EPF online once your UAN is active, your KYC (Aadhaar, PAN and bank) is linked and verified, and you meet the withdrawal condition. Full withdrawal is allowed on retirement or after two months of unemployment; partial withdrawal is allowed for specified needs.
Log in to the EPFO member portal with your UAN and password. Ensure Aadhaar, PAN and bank account are seeded and approved by the employer, and that your mobile is linked to Aadhaar.
Full withdrawal needs retirement or two months of continuous unemployment. Partial advances are allowed for housing, medical treatment, marriage, education or specified emergencies, each with its own limit and service condition.
Under Online Services, choose Claim (Form 31, 19 and 10C). Verify your details, enter the bank account for credit, select the claim type and the reason, and proceed.
Authenticate the claim with the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile. No employer attestation is needed for a fully KYC-verified account.
The claim status is visible on the portal. Settlement typically takes a few working days to a few weeks; the amount is credited directly to your registered bank account.
Once submitted with verified KYC, settlement usually takes about 5 to 20 working days, depending on the EPFO office workload.
EPF withdrawal is tax-free if you have completed five years of continuous service. Withdrawal before five years may be taxable and attract TDS.
