Frequently asked questions

What does a clinic manager do?

A clinic manager runs a clinic or diagnostic centre day to day. They manage the front desk, appointments, billing and daily collections, keep pharmacy or sample areas stocked, handle patient complaints, and coordinate doctor schedules. They lead the small centre team and report footfall, revenue and service numbers to an area or cluster manager.

What qualifications do you need to become a clinic manager?

A graduate degree in any stream is the usual base, with a healthcare or management background preferred. A diploma in hospital or healthcare management helps, as does comfort with clinic billing and appointment software. Employers value experience in clinic front office, hospital operations or retail, along with clear people and service skills.

What is the difference between a clinic manager and a hospital administrator?

A clinic manager runs a single small centre with a compact team and a focus on daily footfall and collections. A hospital administrator runs the non-clinical operations of a much larger hospital, with departments such as housekeeping, security, facilities and vendors. The clinic manager's scope is narrower but hands-on across every function of the centre.
