Frequently asked questions

What does an admission counsellor do?

An admission counsellor answers enquiries, gives campus tours, explains eligibility, fees and scholarships, schedules entrance tests, verifies documents, collects admission fees and completes enrolment in the ERP. They also follow up leads and represent the institution at fairs and open houses.

What is the difference between an admission counsellor and an academic counsellor?

An admission counsellor focuses on getting the right students admitted: enquiries, tours, eligibility, documents and fees. An academic counsellor, common in coaching institutes, also stays with students after admission, following attendance, test scores and instalments. In small institutes one person often does both.

Do you need a degree to become an admission counsellor?

Most schools, colleges and institutes ask for a graduate degree in any stream. Beyond that, they look for clear spoken English and the local language, a friendly and honest manner with families, and experience in front office, counselling or customer service.
