How it works
- On the web, open the composer, choose Poll, type the question and add the options.
- Tick whether people can pick more than one option and whether votes are anonymous.
- Set an optional closing date and time, and choose to show results as votes come in or only after the poll closes.
- Pick the audience, whole company, chosen branches or chosen departments, and publish or schedule it.
- Employees vote on the web or in the app; with live results, they see the totals after voting.
- With anonymous votes, results show totals only, never who voted for what.
What you can set
- A question with at least two options.
- Single choice or multiple choice.
- Anonymous voting: totals only.
- Closing date and time: optional.
- Results: as votes come in, after voting; or only after the poll closes.
- Audience: whole company, branches or departments.
- Written on the web; voting on the web and in the app.
- Anyone allowed to write general posts can also create a poll.
When a poll is the right tool
Polls work for light, practical decisions where many people's preference matters and nobody's job depends on the answer: party dates, transport pick-up points, training slots, canteen menus, the theme for a festival celebration. They are not a channel for grievances or complaints, which need a confidential process such as your grievance redressal committee. Keep polls short and close them on time, so people see that their vote led somewhere.
Worked example: choosing the annual day date
An engineering services firm in Vadodara with 210 staff wants to fix its annual day. HR posts a poll for the whole company with three options: Saturday 12 December, Saturday 19 December and Sunday 20 December 2026. Multiple choice is on, because many people can manage two of the dates. The poll closes on Friday 20 November at 6 pm, and results show only after closing so early votes do not sway the rest. When it closes, 146 people have voted and 19 December has the most votes, so HR announces it the next Monday.
Tips for useful polls
Good polls are quick to answer and easy to act on. If people cannot answer in ten seconds, or HR cannot say what it will do with the result, the question probably belongs in a meeting or a proper survey rather than on the company wall.
- Ask one question per poll.
- Use anonymous voting for anything people may feel awkward about.
- Hide results until closing when you want independent answers.
- Post the outcome as an announcement so voters see the result.

Can employee polls be anonymous in ZeniaHR?
Yes. Tick Anonymous votes when creating the poll. Results then show totals for each option only, never who voted for what, for anyone who can see the poll. Decide this before publishing, because the choice tells people how their vote will be treated.
Can I hide poll results until the poll closes?
Yes. Set Show results to Only after the poll closes and give the poll a closing date and time. Until then people can vote but cannot see the totals. The other option shows totals as votes come in, but only to people who have already voted.
Can employees vote from the mobile app?
Yes. Polls appear in the wall feed in the employee app, and people can vote there. Polls themselves are created on the web, where the composer has the question, options, anonymous voting, closing time, results setting and audience.
Who can create a poll on the company wall?
Anyone who may write general posts can also create a poll, and HR and the Company Head always can. If the company switches general posts off in the wall settings, only moderators can post polls. The audience can be the whole company, branches or departments.
