Hiring to a training batch date
Everything in BPO hiring works backwards from the date a new hire training batch starts. If a batch of 35 needs to start on the 1st, and your recent funnel shows that about three out of four accepted offers actually join, you need about 47 accepted offers, which means offers going out two weeks ahead. Open one requisition per batch with the number of openings, so the pipeline, the trainer and the operations manager all work to the same target. When the batch fills, the requisition closes.
Walk-ins, referrals and the careers page
Walk-in drives, employee referrals and job fairs remain the main channels for agent roles, with job portals and consultants filling gaps. Print the public careers page link as a QR code at the walk-in desk, so candidates fill the multi-step application form on their phones while they wait, instead of on paper. Referred candidates often settle faster, so pay the referral bonus after the new hire completes a set period, for example 90 days, and enter it in payroll as an incentive.
Screening: communication, typing and the ops round
A typical loop for a voice agent is an HR screening for basics and shift readiness, a spoken English or language assessment, and an operations round with a situational role-play. Chat processes add a typing test, often with a minimum speed set by the client. Record each score in screening notes, and move candidates through Screening, Interview and Offer on the same day where possible, because walk-in candidates often have another interview that afternoon. For freshers, the resume match score matters less than the communication result.
Worked example: a walk-in funnel
A Saturday drive in Pune sees 200 walk-ins. Of these, 90 clear the language assessment, 45 clear the operations round and 36 receive offers. By the batch start date, 27 join new hire training. The offer to join ratio is 27 divided by 36, or 75 percent, and the walk-in to join ratio is 27 divided by 200, or 13.5 percent. Recruitment analytics shows the same funnel by stage, which tells you where to act: a weak language pass rate points to sourcing, while a weak offer to join ratio points to slow offers or better offers elsewhere.

What is the hiring process for BPO jobs?
Usually an HR screening, a communication or language assessment, a typing test for chat roles and an operations round with a role-play, sometimes followed by a client round. Selected candidates often get an offer the same day and join a new hire training batch. Background verification usually runs alongside training rather than before it.
How do BPOs hire in bulk?
They plan backwards from training batch dates, run walk-in drives and referral campaigns, and keep screening rounds short and standard so decisions can be made on the day. One requisition per batch keeps the target visible to everyone. Tracking the funnel from walk-in to joining shows where candidates drop out and which step to fix.
How can BPOs reduce no-shows after an offer?
Make offers quickly, confirm the joining date by phone a few days before, start paperwork through a self-onboarding link, and tell candidates exactly where to report on day one. Offers sent a week after the interview lose people to faster competitors. Reviewing pending offers every few days catches candidates who have gone quiet.
